Perez, Davide (1711–1778)

Spanish composer. He was maestro di cappella to Prince Naselli at Palermo and, in 1752, went to Lisbon, where he became attached to the royal chapel and the new opera house, which opened in 1755. He composed many operas to libretti by Metastasio.

He studied at the Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Loreto at Naples and produced his first opera, La nemica amante, in 1735.
