Perick, Christof (1946- )

German conductor. He studied in Hamburg where he was assistant at the Staatsoper until 1970. He was conductor of the Trier Opera (1970-72), and worked at Darmstadt (1972-74), Saarbrücken (1974-77), and Karlsruhe (1977-84). From 1977 he conducted the Deutsche Oper, Berlin, including the first performance of Rihm's Oedipus (1987). He led Così fan tutte at Los Angeles (1988), where he was also appointed director of the Chamber Orchestra (1992). He conducted Fidelio and Tannhäuser in New York, at the Metropolitan Opera House (1992). From 1984 he was music director of the city of Hanover.
