Perotti, Giovanni Agostino (1769–1855)

Italian composer. He studied under his brother Giovanni Domenico Perotti, and Mattei. He visited Vienna in 1795 and London in 1798. He settled in Venice in around 1800, becoming second maestro di cappella at St Mark's in 1812, and first in succession to Furlanetto in 1817.

Works

operas, for example La contadina nobile (1795), ballets; church music, oratorios, for example Metastasio's Abele (1794); piano sonatas.
