Perry, Janet (1947- )

US soprano. After study at the Curtis Institute, she made her debut in 1969 in Linz, as Zerlina. She sang in Munich and Cologne, as Donizetti's Norina and Adina, Blondchen, Zerbinetta, and Olympia. She appeared at Glyndebourne in 1977, as Aminta in Die schweigsame Frau; she sang Handel's Cleopatra at the 1992 Halle Festival. She was particularly admired for her soubrette roles; her recordings include Papagena, conducted by Karajan.
