Peskó, Zoltá (1937– )

Hungarian conductor. After study in Budapest and Rome, he was assistant to Lorin Maazel at the Deutsche Oper, Berlin (1966–69). He conducted at the Berlin Staatsoper (1969–73) and the Teatro Communale, Bologna (1974–76). Between 1986 and 1989 he conducted Wagner's Ring at Turin. He directed the premiere of Corghi's Blimunde at Milan (1990), and has conducted other first performances of works by Bussotti, Donatoni, Rihm (Dies, 1985), and Schnebel (5 Geistliche Lieder, 1985). He led Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre at Zurich (1992) and Norma at Naples (1993).
