Petri, Angelo (1883-1961)

French-born vintner. He emigrated to the USA in 1895, joining the family cigar business; under his presidency, Marca Petri became the USA's leading brand of cigar. In 1933 he revived the family wine business, which thrived through innovative marketing and by his retirement (1956) had become United Vintners, the world's largest wine distributor. He was born in Marseilles, France.
