Pettit, Bob

Pettit, Bob (1932– )

US basketball player. After he was an All-American at Louisiana State University, he played forward with the Milwaukee and St Louis Hawks (1954–65), where he was an All-NBA (National Basketball Association) first team selection ten times and Most Valuable Player twice (1956, 1959). The first player to score 20,000 points in a career, he was elected to basketball's Hall of Fame in 1970. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
