Petyrek, Felix (1892-1951)

Czech pianist and composer. He studied with his father, an organist and conductor, with Adler in Vienna for theory, with Godowsky and Sauer for piano, and with Schreker for composition. Later he taught at Salzburg, Berlin, Athens, and Stuttgart.

Stage works

operas Die arme Mutter und der Tod (1923), Der Garten des Paradieses (1942); pantomime Comedy; incidental music for Hans Reinhart's Der Schatten.

Vocal

Das Heilige Abendmahl, Litanei and other cantatas, three sacred madrigals; Kammerlieder for voice and chamber music.

Instrumental

sextet (1922); violin and piano sonata; studies, rhapsodies and folksongs for piano.
