stinkhorn

Any of a group of foul-smelling European fungi (see fungus), especially P. impudicus; they first appear on the surface as white balls. (Genus Phallus, order Phallales.)

The spores of the stinkhorn are dispersed by flies. The flies are attracted by the its corpselike aroma and feed on the spore-containing slime at its tip. This give them diarrhoea almost immediately, so the spores are spread but still likely to end up in suitable habitat.
