Pharnaces II (63-47 BC)

King of Pontus, on the south shore of the Black Sea, son of Mithridates VI. He allied himself with the Roman military leader Pompey against Julius Caesar in the civil war, but was defeated by Caesar at Zela 47. In the same year Pharnaces was killed in battle against Bosporan rebels.
