    0.03 sec.

Philémon et Baucis

Opera by Charles Gounod (libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, after Ovid), produced at the Théâtre Lyrique, Paris, on 18 February 1860. In the story, the elderly Philemon and Baucis are rewarded by Jupiter: he restores their youth. But the god falls in love with Baucis, and she requests old age again to dampen his amorous enthusiasm.
