Philbin, Regis Francis Xavier (1933- )

US chat-show host. He is best known for his nationally syndicated show Live with Regis & Kathie Lee (1988- ), which he co-hosted with Kathie Lee Gifford (1953- ) until she was replaced by Kelly Ripa (1970- ) in 2000. In 1999 he became the host of the popular US game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.

He worked as a reporter and anchor before launching his first chat show in 1961, The Regis Philbin Show, in San Diego, California. He first appeared nationally on The Joey Bishop Show in 1967.
