Also found in: Wikipedia 0.03 sec.

Philip V of Macedon (237-179 BC)

King of Macedonia from 220 BC. Philip succeeded his father Demetrius II and during the first three years of his reign made war on Aetolia. He fought two wars with Rome (the First Macedonian War 215-205 BC and the Second Macedonian War 200-197 BC). The second ended with Philip's defeat at Cynoscephalae by Flamininus, but he was allowed to keep his throne.

Led by the false accusations of his son Perseus, Philip put to death his elder son Demetrius. On discovering Demetrius' innocence, he died of remorse and was succeeded by Perseus.
