phosphoric acid

Acid derived from phosphorus and oxygen. Its commonest form (H3PO4) is also known as orthophosphoric acid, and is produced by the action of phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) on water. It is used in rust removers and for rust-proofing iron and steel.
