Piccadilly

A main road in London, England, running between Piccadilly Circus and the southeast corner of Hyde Park. In Piccadilly are St James's Church, designed by Christopher Wren; Burlington House, home of the Royal Academy of Arts; and the Ritz Hotel. In Piccadilly Circus, at the eastern end of Piccadilly, is a fountain with a statue, popularly known as Eros, erected in memory of the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury.

Piccadilly was extensively developed and made fashionable in the late 17th century, when the life of the court centred on nearby St James's Palace.
