Pierlot, Hubert (1883–1963)

Belgian politician. A member of the Social Christian party, he was prime minister from 1939. After the capitulation of King Leopold in 1940, Pierlot became head of the Belgian government in exile in London, England. After Belgium was liberated, Pierlot headed a government from September 1944–February 1945. He was minister of state until 1954. Pierlot was born in Cugnon, Belgium, and educated at Louvain University.
