Pilarczyk, Helga (1925– )

German soprano. She studied in Brunswick and Hamburg, making her debut at the Brunswick State Theatre, in 1951. From 1954 she was a member of the Hamburg State Opera. She was best known for her singing of modern music, such as Schoenberg's Erwartung and Pierrot lunaire. She was the first Lulu in Britain (at the Sadler's Wells Theatre, London, 1962) and sang Berg's Marie on her debut at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York (1965).
