Pilgrim's Progress, The

Opera by Vaughan Williams (libretto by the composer after Bunyan), produced at Covent Garden, London, on 26 April 1951. It incorporates most of the composer's one-act opera The Shepherds of the Delectable Mountains (produced at the Royal College of Music in London, on 11 July 1922). The story concerns the journey of the Pilgrim as he faces many trials on his way to the Celestial City.
