Pilot Knob

Pilot Knob

Town in Iron County, southeastern Missouri, USA, 26 km/16 mi southwest of Farmington; population (1990) 800. It is situated near the iron-rich hill that gave it its name. On 27 September 1864 an attack by Confederate troops, just south of the town, was repulsed by a much smaller Union force.
