Pine, Courtney (1964– )

British jazz composer and musician, who plays tenor and soprano saxophone and bass clarinet. He was a founding member of The Abiba Jazz Arts (TAJA) and the 21-piece band the Jazz Warriors '85, performing with such jazz greats as Art Blakey and Elvin Jones (1927–2004). During the late 1980s and early 1990s he was often compared to John Coltrane, but then began to include other musical influences including funk, folk, African, West Indian, and hip-hop.
