Pirrotta, Nino (1908–1998)

Italian musicologist. His major studies were of 14th-century Italian music, including the ars nova and 17th-century Italian opera.

He studied at the conservatories of Palermo and Florence, and later was librarian of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome 1948–56. From 1956 to 1972, he was a professor at Harvard and then at Rome 1972–83.
