Pitt, Brad (1963– )| US film actor and producer. His classic good looks and macho characterizations achieved him heartthrob status and a host of lucrative film roles from the 1990s. His breakthrough role was in Ridley Scott's road movie Thelma and Louise (1991), and he consolidated his star status with a string of acclaimed performances in dramas such as Robert Redford's A River Runs Through It (1992) and Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys (1995; Academy Award nomination), and crime thrillers such as Seven (1995), Fight Club (1999), and Snatch (2000). He starred as Rusty Ryan in the popular ‘Ocean's’ film series (2001–07). |

| Pitt was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Springfield, Missouri. He studied journalism at the University of Missouri, but left just short of his degree in 1986 to pursue his acting career in Los Angeles. He played minor television roles in such shows as Dallas and Growing Pains, and starred in the 1990 series Glory Days; he also featured in the television movie Too Young to Die? the same year. His first starring role in a feature film was in The Dark Side of the Sun (1988). |
