Pixérécourt, René-Charles Guilbert de (1773–1844)

French dramatist. He wrote well over 100 plays, about half of them melodramas, including Victor ou l'Enfant de la forêt 1798 and Coelina ou L'Enfant du mystère 1801.

His melodramas were hugely successful in his day, and had a significant influence on later French drama as well as on the development of melodrama in the 19th-century English theatre.
