Plains

Town in Sumter County, western-central Georgia, USA, 16 km/10 mi southwest of Americus; population (1990) 700. Plains is the birthplace and home of former US president Jimmy Carter, and lies largely within the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site. The area specializes in peanut cultivation.
