Plamenac, Dragan (1895–1983)

US musicologist of Croatian origin. He studied law at the University of Zagreb, then composition with Schreker, musicology with Adler in Vienna and with Pirro in Paris, taking his doctorate in 1925. In 1939 he went to the USA, becoming Professor of Musicology at the University of Illinois in 1955. He published a number of studies of pre-classical music and edited the works of Johannes Ockeghem.
