plasmapheresisTechnique for acquiring plasma from blood. Blood is withdrawn from the patient and separated into its components (plasma and blood cells) by centrifugal force in a continuous-flow cell separator. Once separated, the plasma is available for specific treatments. The blood cells are transfused back into the patient.
