Platte County

County of northwestern Missouri, USA, bounded to the west and south by the Missouri River; area 1,090 sq km/421 sq mi; population (1990) 57,900. Its seat is Platte City. The northwest corner of Kansas City, its international airport, and residential suburbs such as Lake Waukomis, Platte Woods, and Parkville, occupy the county's southeastern portion. The remainder has small towns and an agricultural economy; wheat, corn, oats, and tobacco are grown.
