Playfair, Nigel (1874–1934)

English actor and theatre manager. He took over the management of the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, London, in 1918. His productions there included the Restoration comedies The Way of the World in 1924 and The Beaux' Stratagem in 1927, and John Drinkwater's Abraham Lincoln in 1919. He was knighted in 1928.

He published The Story of the Lyric Theatre in 1925 and Hammersmith Hoy in 1930.
