Pleasantville

Coastal town in Atlantic County, southeastern New Jersey, USA, just west of Atlantic City; population (1990) 16,000. A popular tourist spot, with sea angling and other water-based recreation, it also has commercial deep-sea fishing, shellfishing, and boat-building industries. Diverse light manufactures include stockings. The community was settled in 1702.

Pleasantville

Village in Mount Pleasant town, Westchester County, southeastern New York State, USA, 48 km/30 mi northeast of New York City; population (1990 est) 6,600. A residential and college community, with a branch of Pace University, it is often identified with the Reader's Digest, headquartered in adjacent Chappaqua to the northeast.
