Plymouth County

County of southeastern Massachusetts, on the Atlantic coast; area 1,696 sq km/655 sq mi; population (2000 est) 472,800. Its seat is Plymouth. The northern portion of the county contains the city of Brockton, and the towns of Hingham and Hull, while the southern region features a number of summer resorts and the historic town of Plymouth. Shipbuilding and fishing are long-established industries in the coastal areas.
