Pocono Mountains

Heavily forested range in northeastern Pennsylvania, USA, lying about 145 km/90 mi north of Philadelphia and 113 km/70 mi northwest of Manhattan, and reaching an average height of 430–550 m/1,400–1,800 ft. It constitutes the southern and eastern edge of the Pocono Plateau, part of the Allegheny Mountains. The region, with its streams, lakes, and rolling hills, is a popular winter and summer resort area. Tamiment, Mount Pocono, and Pocono Manor are among the main tourist centres.

Pocono International Raceway, a car-racing circuit, is situated in the southwest near Long Pond, in Tunkhannock township.
