Polglase, Van Nest (1898–1968)

US movie art director. Arriving in Hollywood in 1919, he designed sets for countless movies, from Stage Struck (1925) and Top Hat (1935), to The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), and his masterpiece, Citizen Kane (1941). His sets were noted for their combination of style and atmosphere. He was born in New York, New York.
