Pollock, Frederick

Pollock, Frederick (1845-1937)

English jurist. He was called to the Bar in 1871. Pollock was professor of jurisprudence at University College, London (1882-83), Corpus professor of jurisprudence at Oxford University (1883-1903), and professor of common law at Inns of Court (1884-89). He wrote text-books on common law, torts, and maritime law. He also coauthored with F W Maitland, A History of English Law (1895). Pollock was born in London, England. He was educated at Eton School and Trinity College, Cambridge University.
