Pommier, Jean-Bernard (1944- )

French pianist and conductor. After study at the Paris Conservatory he enjoyed a world-wide career from 1962. In that year he was launched as a prize winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, and he made his Salzburg debut with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra under Karajan, in 1971. He has appeared as a conductor and soloist with the Northern Sinfonia, the Hallé Orchestra, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed chamber music with the Vermeer and Guarneri Quartets.
