Pomus and Shuman

    0.01 sec.

Pomus and Shuman

US pop-music songwriting partnership 1956–65. The team wrote hits for the Drifters (‘Save the Last Dance for Me’ 1960) and Elvis Presley (‘Little Sister’ and ‘His Latest Flame’ 1961). Fluent in a number of styles, they were innovators in none.

Much of their material was written for prefabricated pop stars like Fabian (‘I'm a Man’ 1959) or, like ‘Teenager in Love’ for Dion and the Belmonts (1959), in imitation of a recent hit. Between 1960 and 1963 Pomus and Shuman were one of the songwriting teams working in the Brill Building, the New York hit factory.
