Ponchatoula

Town in Tangipahoa Parish, southeastern Louisiana, USA, 61 km/38 mi northwest of New Orleans and 6 km/4 mi southeast of Hammond; population (1990) 5,400. Founded in 1830, it is a fruit and market gardening centre, specializing in strawberries.
