The Pont du Gard near Nîmes, France. The Pont du Gard is an aqueduct bridging the river Gard, and was built on the order of the Roman emperor Agrippa, c. 19 BC.
| Roman aqueduct in France, crossing the River Gard 26 km/16 mi west of Avignon. It is 275 m/902 ft long and 49 m/161 ft high, with three tiers of arches. Built by Marcus Agrippa in 19 BC to bring water to Nîmes, it is now a tourist attraction. |
