Devil's Bridge

Village in Ceredigion (Cardiganshire), central Wales, 17 km/11 mi east of Aberystwyth, situated on the River Mynach where it joins the River Rheidol. There are three bridges over a deep gorge (35 m/115 ft) here. The site of Devil's Bridge provides important evidence for Ice-Age landscape evolution and river capture.

The lowest and oldest bridge (12th century) is believed to have been built by the monks of Strata Florida Abbey (see Pontrhydfendigaid); the middle one dates from 1753; and an iron road-bridge was constructed in 1901.
