Pordenone| Capital of Pordenone province in Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, northeast Italy, on the Friulian plain, 64 km/40 mi northeast of Venice; population (1991) 49,700. Pordenone is an important centre of Italy's electrical consumer goods industry, which provided the stimulus for its rapid economic growth; other industries include engineering, textiles, ceramics, chemicals, furniture, and foodstuffs. It is also a commercial centre for agricultural produce (wine, cereals, fruit, vegetables). |
