Porlock

Porlock Bay, on the north Somerset coast, forms a section of the coastline of the Exmoor National Park. The 1.6 km/1 mi ridge of shingle faces the sea on one side and a salt marsh on the other, with a tidal lagoon that attracts rare migrating birds in spring and autumn. In the distance is Selworthy Beacon.

Village in Somerset, England, on the edge of Exmoor; population (2001) 2,200. It is noted for the steep gradient (25%/1 in 4) of Porlock Hill. The village has a Perpendicular church and some thatched houses. Porlock Bay is an opening of the Bristol Channel, 7.2 km/4.5 mi wide, with Porlock Weir, the old harbour, at the western end.
