Comodoro Rivadavia

Port in Patagonia, southeast Argentina, on the Atlantic coast of Chubut province; population (1991) 124,000. Founded in 1901, it is Argentina's chief centre of oil production producing nearly one third of the national supply; there is a petrochemical plant, and a 1,770 km/1,100 mi-long pipeline carries natural gas from here to Buenos Aires.

The Oil Museum highlights the region's natural and cultural history aspects of oil exploration.
