Port-Gentil

Chief port of Gabon, on the Atlantic coast, 100 km/62 mi south of Libreville; population (1993) 164,000. It is the administrative capital of Ogooué-Maritime province. Important industries are oil-refining and trade in timber. The Sogara refinery, operated by Elf, provides all of Gabon's petroleum products.
