Portchester

Suburb of Fareham, Hampshire, England, 6 km/4 mi northwest of Portsmouth; population (2001) 17,600. Portchester was the Roman Portus Castra, and the Roman bastioned wall is well preserved.

In an angle of the wall is a castle, built 1160–72; here Henry V assembled his forces prior to the Battle of Agincourt. The priory church was founded in 1133.
