Portmarnock

Seaside resort in County Dublin, Republic of Ireland, 14 km/9 mi northeast of Dublin; population (2001) 8,400. Portmarnock has a beach and a championship golf course. The ruins of St Marnock's church and St Marnock's well can be seen here.

Another church and well, St Doulagh's, 3 km/2 mi west of Portmarnock, date from the 13th century and incorporate the remains of an earlier anchorite cell.

Nearby St Doulagh's Lodge was the home of the artist Nathaniel Hone (1831–1917), who specialized in landscape and seascape painting.
