    0.02 sec.

Pozzo, Fra Andrea (1642–1709)

Italian baroque painter. He was skilled in illusionist church decoration, and the ceiling 1691–94 of the Jesuit church of S Ignazio, Rome, is a remarkable work. He went to Vienna 1702, becoming one of the means by which the baroque style was transmitted to Austria and southern Germany.

He trained in Milan, Venice, and Rome, and became a Jesuit lay brother 1665.
