Prague School

Group of linguists, including the Russian-born Roman Jakobson and the Russian Nicolai Trubetzkoy (1890–1938), who were active in Prague in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Their theory of phonology (the study of sounds in languages) analysed sounds into sets of oppositions.
