Prélude à l'Après-midi d'un faune

An orchestral piece by Debussy intended as a musical introduction to Stéphane Mallarmé's poem of that name, composed 1892–94 and first performed in Paris, at the Société Nationale, on 23 December 1894.

Ballet on this work (choreographed by Vaslav Nizhinsky), produced at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, on 29 May 1912.
