Preston, Simon (1938– )

English organist, harpsichordist, and conductor. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and at Cambridge. He made his debut at London in 1962, as an organist. He was sub-organist at Westminster Abbey (1962–67), where he was appointed organist in 1981. He was organist and master of the choristers at Westminster Abbey (1981–87). He performed at Christ Church College, Oxford (1970–81). He has been heard in Europe and the USA in organ works by Handel, Liszt, and Messiaen, and has recorded masses by Haydn with the Christ Church choir.
