Price, Curtis (Alexander) (1945– )

US musicologist. He became professor at King's College, London, in 1988, and principal of the Royal Academy of Music in 1995. Early English stage music has been at the centre of his studies; he published Henry Purcell and the London Stage in 1984 and edited Dido and Aeneas in 1986. Other titles include Italian Opera and Arson in Late 18th-Century London (1989) and The Early Baroque Era (editor, 1993).

He studied at Harvard 1968–74 and taught at Washington University, St Louis, 1974–81.
