Pritchett, William Kendrick

Pritchett, William Kendrick (1909– )

US classicist. He was an expert on Greek epigraphy (the study of inscriptions), warfare, and topography, and his publications include Studies in Greek Topography I–IV 1965, The Greek State at War I–III 1974, and Ancient Greek Military Practices 1971.

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, educated at Johns Hopkins (PhD 1942), and taught at the University of California, Berkeley 1948–76.
